Wedding FAQs answered

With wedding season just around the corner I thought I'd do a little round up of some frequently asked questions to help any brides to be - whether you've got everything planned and are all set or if you're newly engaged and starting to think about what sort of florals you'd like for your big day. I love getting to know my couples and talking through their vision, the colours, any specific flowers and the overall scene that they hope to set with the flowers at their wedding - it's then my job to take that away and come up with a design and concept that brings that vision to life... and more.

How far in advance should I book my wedding florist?

It's always good to have more time, as it means you can collaborate with your florist, ping ideas back and forth and land on a concept that reflects you both, so 6-12 months is ideal from initial enquiry and phone consultation or meet up. That being said if your wedding is sooner than that timeframe it's always worth enquiring if the date is available. Flowers are a perishable product so will be ordered or picked the week of your wedding so even with less time, we can hopefully accommodate you.

Is there a better month to get married for flowers?

That totally depends on your preference - there is beauty in every month! Spring brings beautiful Tulips, Narcissi and the beginning of the flower season, if you love British grown flowers and lots of beautiful colour then May, June and July are great months with a variety of different stems like Roses, Delphiniums, Peonies, Ammi in lots of lovely ice cream shades, but late summer means Dahlias are blooming (one of my favourites) The oranges, browns and dried stems of Autumn are particularly beautiful as are richer wines and frosty whites of winter.

Can you work to our budget?

Absolutely. We will have an initial consultation together and discuss how important flowers are to your big day and how much you are budgeting and from there we can come up with a bespoke quote tailored to that. Nothing is set in stone though, the quote is fluid throughout the planning stages. From there we can always work together to add or take away or change elements to make the costs work.

Will you do a visit to the venue to go over details?

Yes, definitely. I am lucky to have worked on weddings in some incredible venues, from Highclere castle to Kew Gardens and everything in between but there's nothing like visiting a venue with a couple to go through the flowers in more detail. Going into the rooms that the ceremony will be held, then onto the wedding breakfast and dancing areas allows you to see the table set up and if there are any areas that you might have missed that would benefit from some flowers, like a mantelpiece or the bar. You can also then work out if any of the flowers can transition from room to room throughout the day, to save costs.

Do you travel for weddings?

Of course. We primarily work at venues in Essex, London and surrounding areas but can travel anywhere really, the additional costs of this will be reflected in the quote. We try and use local flower farmers and growers wherever possible, especially during the British growing season so once we know the destination of your wedding and are confirmed as the florist we can get to work sourcing local flower suppliers to provide the florals for us to use.

Hopefully this has been a helpful post. There is still some availability for 2025 weddings and our diaries are open for 2026, we always love to chat wedding flowers, so get in touch!
